Gaffney, S.C. – Mike Cerino, the head coach of the Limestone College men's lacrosse team, recently announced the appointment of Sean Bennett (East Moriches, N.Y.), Thomas Langan (Potomac, Md.), Teddy Prager (Seaford, N.Y.), and Spencer Wims (Waltham, Mass.) as team captains for the 2010 season. The quartet of captains was selected solely by their teammates and will look to guide the Saints to a second straight Conference Carolinas championship and an eleventh straight NCAA Division II tournament appearance.

“I am very pleased to announce our captains for the upcoming season,” Cerino said. “I have great confidence in our entire senior class and their leadership abilities. However, these four student-athletes in particular have really developed a strong and positive presence within our program.”

Over the last three seasons, the group has compiled a career record of 36-8 for an .818 winning percentage. In that time, these players have won two Conference Carolinas championships and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Wims, a first-team All America selection for the 2009 season, returns for his fourth season as a defender for the Saints. Wims started in all 14 games in ’09 and led Limestone with 29 groundballs. Since arriving in Gaffney, he has started in 42 of his 43 appearances and has been named All-Conference Carolinas all three years. Wims has scooped up 78 groundballs and has 7 points on 5 goals and 2 assists. He also served as one of three team captains in 2009.

Bennett returns to the royal and gold for his fourth season. Bennett has played in 25 career games with 35 groundballs. In 2009, Bennett set career-highs in games played (13), groundballs (29-tied for the team lead), and won 50 of 110 face-offs for the Saints. He also recorded his first career goal in the conference championship win against Queens University.

Langan, an All-Conference Carolinas second team attackman in 2009, enters into his fourth season as the highest returning point scorer from the ’09 campaign. Langan had career highs of 31 goals, 3 assists, 3 game winning goals and 20 groundballs. Langan also set a personal best of goals scored in a game, netting 6 against St. Andrews Presbyterian College. He has appeared in 29 games in three seasons, starting in all 14 games in 2009.

Prager, a member of the All-Conference Carolinas second team in 2009 and first team in 2008, returns for his fourth year as a Saint. Prager, the top defensive-midfielder for the Saints over the past two seasons, will look forward to an expanded role in the Limestone offense. While at LC, Prager has played in 39 games and recorded 24 points on 9 goals and 15 assists. In that three year span, Prager leads Limestone in groundballs, scooping 106.
