GAFFNEY, S.C.— Limestone College Head Swimming Coach Ryan Mallam has signed three athletes for the Lady Saints swimming program. Anna Freeman (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada), Joanna Mannon (Huntersville, N.C.), and Nathania La Pierre (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago) will compete with Limestone next season.
Freeman is a distance swimmer. From 1999-2007 she competed with the Mississauga Aquatic Club. In 2007, she joined the Etobicoke Swim Club. Freeman won the 400 freestyle silver medal at the 2004 Ontario Provincial Championships, and is the Mississauga Aquatic Club record holder in the 1500 freestyle. She attended Silverthorn CI during her prep career where she was an honor roll student. Freeman plans to major in history. Her parents are Pater and Nora Freeman.
“Anna is a good distance swimmer and will give our women’s team more depth in that area next season,” commented Mallam. “Her top times include a 1:56.57 in the 200 free and a 5:08.66 in the 500 free.”
Mannon attended North Mecklenburg High School where she was a four-year letterwinner. She was named Most Improved in 2005 by the NOMAD Swim Club and earned the 2008 Coaches Award for the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club. Her parents are Kenneth and Phyllis Mannon. She plans to study athletic training at Limestone.
“Joanna will be a good asset to the team next season with her ability to swim the freestyle and breaststroke,” pointed out Mallam. “She has earned numerous awards from her club teams.”
La Pierre was a member of Trinidad & Tobago’s national swim team where she was a team captain. She also swam with the HNC Swim Team. She earned multiple Merit Cards, Certificates of Achievement, and High Point honors at meets. She attended Holy Name Covenant Secondary School. La Pierre will major in business administration and economics. She is the daughter of Nicole and Noel La Pierre.
“Nathania will be a great asset to our program,” commented Mallam. “She has the ability to swim several different strokes and has had much success during her prep career.”
